Classic Beef Smash Burgers
These beef patties are defined by their deep char and crispy, caramelized edges. A small pocket of butter tucked inside each portion ensures a juicy, flavorful result in every bite.
Ingrédients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 tbsp salted butter · frozen, divided
- 3 tsp Homemade Burger Seasoning
- 4 burger buns
- 4 iceberg lettuce · leaves
- 1 tomato · sliced into thin rounds
- 1/4 red onion · small, sliced into thin rounds
Préparation
- 1
Separate the ground beef into four equal portions.
- 2
Grate 1/2 tablespoon of frozen butter onto each portion. Wrap the meat around the butter, shape into a ball, and chill. Preheat a cast iron skillet over high heat.
- 3
Once the skillet is smoking, sprinkle 3/4 teaspoon of burger seasoning over a beef ball and place it in the hot pan.
- 4
Smash the patty firmly with a spatula and keep pressure on it. Cook for about 2 minutes until the top surface changes color, then carefully loosen the edges from the pan with the spatula.
- 5
Flip the patty, smash it down once more, and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove and set aside on a cooling rack; wipe the skillet clean and repeat for the remaining patties.
- 6
Set your oven to broil. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, brush it onto the inside of the buns, and toast them under the broiler until golden.
- 7
Assemble the burgers by layering the patties on the bottom buns with onion, tomato, and lettuce before topping with the toasted buns.
