Hearty ground beef patties are pan-seared and simmered in a savory, thick mushroom gravy. This classic home-style dish serves as a filling and comforting weeknight dinner.
Ingrédients
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 8 oz. mushrooms
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups beef broth
Préparation
- 1
Finely mince half of the onion and slice the remaining half. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, minced onion, breadcrumbs, egg, 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix well and shape into four flattened oval patties.
- 2
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the beef patties for about 5 minutes per side until browned, then remove them and set aside on a plate.
- 3
Add the sliced mushrooms, remaining sliced onion, and the rest of the salt and pepper to the same skillet. Sauté until softened, allowing the moisture to help lift the browned bits from the pan.
- 4
Stir in the butter and flour, cooking for two minutes to create a roux. Gradually add the beef broth and the remaining 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly to dissolve the flour and incorporate the pan drippings.
- 5
Once the gravy reaches a simmer and begins to thicken, return the beef patties to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the meat and continue to simmer for 5 minutes before serving.
