Cold Brew Iced Tea
Cold brewing produces a smooth, refreshing tea free from the harsh tannins and bitterness often associated with hot-brewed methods. This preparation stays fresh in the refrigerator for up to five days.
Ingrédients
- 1 tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf tea) per 6 to 8 ounces of water
- Optional: sliced lemon, fresh mint leaves, sliced cucumber, simple syrup or sweetener of choice
Préparation
- 1
Place tea bags or loose-leaf tea into a pitcher. If using bags, leave them whole or snip the corners to pour the leaves out for a more intense extraction. Pour room temperature or cold water over the tea.
- 2
Cover the pitcher and place it in the refrigerator. Allow white or green tea to steep for 6 to 8 hours, or black and oolong tea for 8 to 12 hours.
- 3
Strain the tea to remove the loose leaves using a fine-mesh sieve, ideally lined with cheesecloth. If using tea bags, simply remove and discard them.
- 4
Serve the tea chilled or over ice, adding lemon, mint, cucumber, or your preferred sweetener as desired.
